Road Safety Sessions
This week pupils from Years 7 and 8 have been learning how to stay safe on the roads.
The Impact Partnership came in for two days this week to give road safety sessions, with Dave Godley, an assistant road safety officer running the workshops.

The sessions were aimed to prevent students from taking risks on the road and have hopefully made our students more aware of road safety.

The award is yet another success for the band, who earlier in the year took to the stage to perform in front of a 4,500 audience at The Music For Youth School Proms at the Royal Albert Hall on the 9th November.
A-Level Art Success Spreads
Abbie-Lee Hollister has achieved huge success with her A-Level Art project, which has now been praised by the BBC and ITV.
The sixth form student has been creating sculptures from Sellotape, based on the work of Mark Jenkins, an American artist who creates street installations using box sealing tape. She has since emailed Mark examples of her work and received a great response.
Abbie's final piece
Abbie has also received sponsorship from Sellotape, as they have sent 80 rolls of tape to assist with her work. Sellotape are also featuring Abbie in their social media promotions and her work is set to feature in various different publications.
On Wednesday 25th January, Abbie went to The Museum of Science and Industry to exhibit her work and will be teaching classes at the museum in July, as well as delivering classes at Eureka in August.

Illness in School
If your child becomes ill in school, they must in the first instance report this to their form tutor, who will then make the decision about whether they can go home. If their form tutor is unavailable they must see their Head of House/ Year or Mrs Hardman the Attendance Officer.
Form Tutors, Head of House/Year will then contact Pupil Reception to inform them that your child is ill and needs to go home. Pupils should not bypass this system by phoning or texting parents directly. These procedures have been put in place to ensure the safeguarding of all pupils.
Year 11
Revision tips and homework downloads for Year 11 students can be found on the Year 11 page.
School Prom
Our school prom will be on the 28th June at The Norton Grange Hotel.
More details to follow.
Adverse Weather - Snow Closures
The school will always attempt to remain open during adverse weather, although students, parents and staff need to be mindful of their own safety whilst travelling to and from school.
The school website is normally updated by 7.15 am each morning if there is a possibility of closure.
Please use this site as your first source of enquiry. Also, the Rochdale Council website has a page on closures, and that too is updated early and regularly.
This year we will also be attempting to communicate the situation via the 'Parent Call' text messaging system, and on the school's Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Once again, we would not advise you to listen to student word of mouth, nor accept another student's Facebook or text.
